Materials:

G hook

Small amount of black yarn

Small amount of tan yarn

1 oz. Variegated yarn

Yarn needle

Stitch marker

Shell: make 2

*Working in continuous rounds mark all first stitches

Ch 4, join to make a loop

Rnd 1: ch 3, 11 dc in loop. DO NOT JOIN (12 dc)

Rnd 2: 2 dc in top of ch3. *(2dc in ea dc)* around (24 dc)

Rnd 3: *(2 dc, dc in next dc)* around (36 dc)

Rnd 4: *(2 dc, dc in next 2 dc)* around (48 dc)

Rnd 5: *(2 dc, dc in next 3 dc)* around (60 dc). Join to 1^st dc. Finish off

*With right side of 1 shell: Backstitch with black in between rows to make a spiral look. (Look @ above picture for placement)

Head:

Row 1: With wrong sides together, join with a Sc through both thicknesses. 8 sc across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: sc decrease in 1^st 2 st, 4 sc, sc decrease in last 2 st. Ch 1, turn

Row 3: sc decrease, 3 sc, sc decrease. Ch 1 turn

Row 4: 4 sc across, ch 1, turn

Row 5: (sc decrease) 2x. Finish off

Body:

Row 1: join tan with sc 5 st away from head. Sc in next 15 st through both thicknesses, hdc, dc, tr, dtrc, tr, ch 3. Turn

Row 2: dc in next 2 st, sc in last 16 st. sc in last 4 st of row 5 of shell. Going through both thicknesses. Join with sc in head. Finish off

Finishing:

Edging: With black: sc all around snail. Halfway through place CD inside, finish with sc around. Join to first sc. Finish off

Antennas: (make 2) With black, sl in top of head. Ch5, 5sc in 2^nd ch from hook. Join to 1^st sc. Finish off.

Mouth and Eyes: Back stitch with black making 1 eye and a smile for the mouth.
